Oiran (花魁) was a specific category of the high-ranking courtesans in Japanese history.  Oiran-Dochu(花魁道中) was the procession of Oiran to a teahouse to greet their guests, Oiran wore a luxurious Obi(帯) tied in front of them and wore high Geta (下駄:wooden clogs) which they paraded along a 10-minute route for about an hour.
